Personal Stories

We celebrate the successes of STAND!'s clients and join them as they recount their journey.  Their riveting first hand accounts, and those of all our families, are powerful and uniquely personal.  Each is a testament to the courage and strength it takes to rebuild a life.  Heartfelt stories of families once torn apart by domestic violence and child abuse rebuilding their lives and seeking services in unsurpassed numbers inspire us all.

Share in the pride that these families experience as they take the first steps to changing their lives for many generations to come.  Our combined efforts make it possible for hopes and dreams to flourish.

Brittany

In life I believe there are no mistakes, only life lessons.  My name is Brittany Brown.  I am a daughter, a friend, a student, a mother of a beautiful four-year old son, and last but not least, a survivor of Domestic Violence.  I wear that badge with honor and am not ashamed to tell others the journey I have made to be here today with you. Click here to read the full story.

Margarita

Fareena

My name is Fareena and I am a survivor. I have broken the generational cycle of violence, and I am proud to say that my 3 year old daughter, Aalia, will not grow up the same way I did. Click here to read the full story.

Catalina Torres

Catalina, a former STAND! client, was a powerful example of a woman who traveled the long road from victim to survivor and became an advocate. Click here to read the full story.

Alicia

From the time she was a little girl, Alicia just wanted everyone in her family to be safe. Even at the tender age of five, she did whatever she could to keep her father from abusing her mother, even sitting on his lap when she thought her mother might be in danger.
