Job cuts at the Department of Health and Human Services will endanger victims and survivors and threaten decades of a successful public health response to domestic violence and sexual assault.
As part of these cuts, the Program Branch of the CDC Division of Violence Prevention was decimated. This branch is responsible for administering the Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancements and Leadership Through Alliances program and the Rape Prevention and Education program, both of which provide essential services to victims and survivors across the country. Additionally, the Director of the Office of Family Violence Prevention and Services, in the Administration for Children and Families, was placed on administrative leave. This office administers essential Family Violence Prevention and Services grants as well as American Rescue Plan funds to support victims and survivors and respond to domestic violence and sexual assault.
Call your members of Congress NOW to express your grave concern about the impacts of these cuts on victims and survivors and on our nation’s response to domestic violence and sexual assault, and threaten decades of a successful public health response to domestic violence and sexual assault.
